Artist Statement:
For Gary, painting is an obsession. He has been a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists since 1978 and has been influenced by many of the Senior members through attending countless workshops, and was awarded AFCA status in 1986. He was elected to the Society of Canadian artists in 2011.
Subject matter, color, composition and perspective are important in any painting; however a pronounced light source and atmospheric perspective are very important in all his paintings. He always tries to create a real sense of air in his paintings. Gary regards himself as a recorder of the scenes of our time and uses art to express mood, temperature, time of day and color.
He lived in the North Okanagan for over 30 years, however he now resides in Campbell River on Vancouver Island.
